My first post-----Mystery So Cal striper populations

first time posting, great site. very informative Has anyone ever heard of a small striper population in Newport Harbor? For years I've heard and read that they do exist there but never heard of any one actually fishing for them. I'm curiouse how they got there. Also, i know first hand that there is also a striper population in the irrigation canals at Calexico, Ca. (on the Mexican American border). i'm assuming they might have come through the aquaduct system, all the way from the delta. how do they survive the heat? thanks, john
