Posted by Jackson Chapman The striped bass will thrive n the SF Bay and delta when given the opportunity. The opportunity that it has been denied year after year. Give striped bass the water, clean water in sufficient quantities during the proper times of the year and they will thrive. Deny them this and it will not matter what further restrictions you place upon anglers. the fishery will be doomed. It is time to address the real problem instead of continually apply band aids by placing further restrictions on the everyday angler. As for sturgeon there will be a smaller slot (45-60 inches), an annual limit of 3 and a punch card system similar to abalone for 2007. This is proposal made by the DFG and will most likely be adopted unless a lot anglers make a trip to Southern California to speak out the Fish and Game Commission meeting If you would like to learn about what is happening to the POD in the SF Delta and what is causing it please come to our next meeting (the first Tuesday in September) when we will have Tom Cannon, the preeminent fishery biologist for striped bass, speaking and answering questions. Send me an email for the time and location. Or don't depending on your level of commitment.

You may have read my letter but you did not understand it. It is not whether or not you catch a trophy fish it is weather you have the possibility to do so or not.
