Posted by Gary Adams We appreciate your joining in the debate regarding the slot limit for the Striped Bass. Your support for the coastal fisheries is well known as your recent stand for the communities and its citizens of the mid and north coast related to the Klamath debacle and it's salmon. Your questions related to the slot limit are well taken. The answers provided by both Jack Chapman and John Banks of our organization are supported by our association. However Johns suggestion that the CA Striper might be called the Pacific Striper since their range from CA to WA state, and Mexico acording to Red. Your question to CSBA begs questions of my own. Where was RFA when NMFS determined that there were to many Stripers in the Bay Delta System and allowed them to determine an artificial floor of approximately 650,000 fish vs historic levels were approximately 5 to 7 million fish in the system? Where was RFA's stand when we were put under artificial permits that gave CA a section 10 and had it stripped in 2000 which eliminated one of our more successful attempts at maintaining the striper fishery for all of our citizens? Where were you during the CALFED ROD of 2000 when the Board was made up of largely of Westlands contractors south San Juoquine ag. iterests, DWR, MET WATER, when they said that they didn't give a damn about the fishery? Where were you during Asembly Woman Wolk's hearing on the delta crash where Water Lobyists laid $5. bets on the hearing table that they would not be found guilty of too (SIC) much water being taken from the system despite scientific evidence to the contrary? Jim, it's easy to quarterback after a littany of errors by protaganists. Our concerns go far beyond slot limits for stripers. It's more than just parroting. It's time to get your East Coast brethern involved politically in our constant battles to restore to restore ALL of our fisheries as promised in the CVP and 4 pumps agreements. Put the Pacific Striped Bass back into a class 1 (one) game fish along with all other adromous fisheries. Remind detractors of the economic impact their policies have created in the controlled destruction of our bass fishery.
