Banks A 2001 State Law made farmers subject to the Clean Water Act but the boards waiver lets farmers avoid strict wastewater discharge requirements and allows them to monitor their own runoffs. Farm polution has been cited by a team of scientists as one of three possible causes of the decline of several key fish specie in the Delta. State officials don't even know who is participating in this exemption program. Farm coalitions have fought to keep the names of its members private, fearing enviorenmental groups could sue them for poluting the waterways. There were about half a dozen CSBA Members present who were against the 5 year extension of the waiver. This is one more nail on the coffin for our Delta. John B.

On Thursday, June 22, The Central Valley Regional Water Control Board, extended for 5 years the waiver for agriculture, which will allow farmers to keep polluting our waterways without any oversight. Over 40 people spoke against the extension of this controversial program but our pleas fell on deaf ears.
