Now to comment on the rest of your post. I loved reading your account of northern Kentucky, and knew it'd be great when I heard those 2 words! (due to how smoker-friendly I know that region is) Too bad the Ohio side is no longer smoker-friendly, since the Cincinnati region overall would be up there with Indianapolis, Detroit, and Saint Louis as among the top smoker-friendly metro areas of the Midwest, it it wasn't for Ohio's smoking ban!
Noone knows how damn badly I miss indoor smoking in Illinois, so I cherish every opportunity I get nowadays to smoke indoors when I travel outside of Illinois. And if only I knew a good bar that looked the other way on Illinois' state ban, even if it was more divey than average....
