Posted by AC-WEB on October 26, 2006, 12:35 pm, in reply to "New Avengers #24 discussion." Now, I've read some of the debates about the Sentry on this board, with some people hating the character, others liking him, and many in between. I like the character, but would also like to see some changes. I would like the Sentry to be powered down a bit. He is too uber strong for his own good and his story will get or has already become redundant. I would like him to be a bit more stabilized psychologically. He can have the psychiatrist and the help, but hopefully he can be more stable, same, and confident. I would like his origin and past to be clearer. We already have one Wolverine tracking his past down, we don't need another. Lastly, I agree he needs to loose the wife. I just doesn't make sense that a character like this is marrried. He can keep the dog. I actually find him hilarious. AC http://www.comicboards.com/avengers/view.php?rpl=061026163205 --Previous Message--

I enjoyed the issue. The Sentry does sound whiney, but I don't think he is a coward. Like everybody else, he is torn about this Civil War, who is right, who is wrong, and why it has to happen. But unlike everybody else, he has some major duty mental health issues, which is evident by the more than average thought squares (not bubbles anymore). I liked the touch of him running away to be alone, because if you remember, he is an agoraphobic and is likely to have lapses in his illness, especially under stress. I also found it interesting that the Sentry continues to have memory lapses, I just don't know if he truly doesn't remember or he is forgetting information, which can happen if your mind is racing a million miles per minute.
: Found this post on the Avengers board and
: answered to it there.
:
: I love the Avengers. But I'm trying to
: remember why. With the exception of the Luke
: Cage issue, the Avengers has been nothing
: but boring for a long time now. And these
: single character issues are driving me
: crazy.
:
: So now we have the Sentry who flies away
: from Civil War because he is afraid of the
: Void again. Didn't we just burn through 3 or
: so issues last year dealing with the Void?
: Is that all this character is? Unreal.
:
: Of all the places he could fly he ends up on
: the Blue Area of the Moon and the home of
: the Inhumans. They attack him for some
: reason. He stops the fight, complains about
: their food, tells them about Civil War and
: House of M and is about to make out with
: Crystal.
:
: The funny part was when he says that someone
: in the room burst into tears when hearing
: about House of M and Civil War. Yeah... that
: person was ME! I'm bored of these stories.
: Cut to the chase. Condense these things a
: little.
:
: Then Iron Man stops by and has some tea
: because he isn't busy enough visiting every
: single Marvel book to hassle everyone about
: the registration act. Yawn. Why couldn't
: someone else find the Sentry?
:
: Or better yet... what was the point of this
: issue? The Inhumans are annoyed with the
: Earth. Check. Sentry is still a coward.
: Check. Iron Man is hell-bent on annoying
: ever super powered being on Earth... even if
: they aren't on Earth at the time. Check.
:
: Dullsville. And it is going to be months
: before the Avengers team is back together
: right? Oh man.
