Posted by jsf My impression is that Robert was both, but that he really WANTED to be the Void ... that if given a choice between adopting the identity of the Sentry permanently versus that of the Void, he'd choose to be the Void. Lots of clues about this throughout the story, the first, and most interesting one upon reflection, is when Lindy wants to get "frisky" with Rob as the Sentry, and he doesn't want to. Now, if he IS the Sentry, then the obvious question is "why not?" But if he doesn't want to be the Sentry (for whatever reason), then clearly her request is a slight to him ... it means that she doesn't find HIM attractive, etc. At the end of the day, he was both, but only wanted to be one of them, and not the heroic one. So far as his appearance in New Avengers goes, I think it's interesting that even though the Void has been 'cast out', Rob's still got a whole host of other problems to deal with (like agoraphobia, as seen in the Annual and Collective storyline). Cool stuff.
