Posted by AC-WEB The Sentry #7 of 8 This title just seems to move at Mach 10. So much happens so quickly that it can make your head spin, but thanks to the able writing talents of Paul Jenkins you never feel so overwhelmed that the story becomes muddy. As we near the final issue a lot of information is thrown at the reader, but no real questions are answered. I get the impression that issue eight is going to throw everyone for a spin. Thus far the ride has been quite enjoyable. I love how Jenkins makes us feel for the Sentry while rooting against those who are trying to make him forget, including Dr. Strange and Nick Fury. While throwing concepts at the reader, Jenkins doesn’t forget that this is a collaborative effort and makes effective use of his talented artist to convey the emotions that seem to constantly fluctuate within the Sentry. John Romita Jr. is what I consider the definition of a classic Marvel artist. His style is evocative of a mix between Jack Kirby and his father, John Romita Sr., while still maintaining his own unique style. The panels are energetic and the energy emanates from page-to-page and panel-to-panel. Romita Jr.’s art may seem simple, but there is a complex structure to it that belies its simplicity. With the major question, Who is the Sentry, close to being answered I find myself curious as to whether or not I missed something in the first six issues. A sign of a good story is one that makes you think and this one is doing just that. There are no easy answers as we make this journey with the Sentry. I just hope the answers we find at the end hold up to the expectations; because I have a feeling it’s going to be a doozy.
