I can't recall what year the junction switch at Paines was actually removed. It used to be a spring switch lined for the PC. Our Chessie eastward trains would spring through, westward Chessie had to stop and line for our movement. I presume the GT timetable special instructions were for "just in case" legal reasons at the two crossings with flashers. I seem to remember driving out to Paines once and that a couple rails were actually removed just past the switch on the former PC. There may have been GT bulletin/general order instructions in effect that I was not privy to.
