Re: Saginaw Towers
To answer MRR's question, when I first went to Saginaw in 1976 there were still two C&O towers: Washington Ave (WS) and Mershon (XY). I worked both of them for brief periods off the extra board. The GTW had just taken over all of the former PC trackage in the area, and they still had a tower called "MX" located near Emerson St by St Mary's hospital. All it controlled was a switch where the original GTW joined the former PC to head across the river on former trackage rights to Mershon. There used to be a tower at Hoyt, but that was eliminated around 1965 and added to the south end CTC board. I think at one time there was a tower at Fordney, where the C&O West Side Belt crossed the former NYC line (also used by C&O) to Paines.
