I got my first car in 1963 and one summer day I and some friends drove to Vicksburg in hopes of seeing a train. As soon as we arrived we saw a headlight coming on a westbound freight. Oh boy! It roared past and around the curve but the horns didn't seem to get any quieter. Then we realized that it was meeting an eastbound on the double track. Oh boy again!! As we stood on the depot platform watching that caboose disappear into the horizon suddenly another headlight appeared. Could you believe it? Another westbound! Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!!! After the third train passed in less than 15 minutes we decided to leave. There could be nothing left to come. The Grand Trunk Western had really put on a show for us that day.
