Re: Mt. Morris Business
I was never aware of any business on the east side of the main, so must be before my time/before I was old enough to get interested in railroads. However, that being said, there used to be two tracks thru Mt. Morris, with the second one on the east side of the existing main. The former grain/feed building (still there in existence today) just north of Mt. Morris road used to get rail service, with that second track. Likewise, Clio used to have 3 tracks, with one being the main, one being a passing track that started just south of Wilson road and went thru Clio, and the other a siding switched from either end on the west side of the existing main that served the old Clio Foundry, and a grain elevator. Also, speaking of Clio, up until the mid to late 70's, there was also a short siding that came off the main about a quarter mile north of M-57 running south that served a lumber yard which is now the Gilroys Hardware. The siding was on the west side of the building. Doug Hefty may be of some help with the Mt. Morris mystery, but I haven't seen him on here for a while.
