I also noticed the crossing on Kilgore rd. Just west of Avoca is paved over. The rails are still exposed but the old style wood crossing has been paved over. The crossing signals amazingly are still in place. I wonder if they are still powered. About 15 years ago I had heard they are leaving that stretch of the line intact just in case the greenwood energy plant needs to move any transformers or any heavy equipment into or out the plant. However a while back I heard that the greenwood energy plant has changed the way they produce power and that the tracks may no longer be necessary into the plant. Not sure if that is true or not, but I Realy hope they leave that section of track in. The lime has sentimental value and it's always a Shane when a railroad is removed. Especialy for us rail fans.
