There was an ice cutting operation on the lake. It appears a spur was heading in the direction you noted. I would be fairly certain a spur went to the shingle mill on the lake. Logs were floated on the lake but those would be going to the shingle and saw mills most likely.
The engine house probably had it's own spur. They would need a siding in order to run around cars. The scale could also have had it's own siding. Running over scales being something you shouldn't do unless weighing a car. That could be done with a gauntlet track though.
