My dad invited my brother and I to accompany him on a business trip to Fort Wayne in early June of 1959, the first of 3 rail fanning forays I made that same month. Dad dropped us off at Fort Wayne’s very interesting Baker Street station which was located along the elevated Pennsy mainline through downtown. If I recall correctly, NKP trains also used it. I also recall, it was mid day when we visited and nothing was going on. On the way home to Grand Rapids, however, we passed through and stopped briefly at Garret on the B&O mainline, and my dad took this short of movie of what we saw there. What is not visible in the film, parked just beyond that huge coaling tower is a B&O Mikado. We couldn’t get close enough to film or photo her. But she had a tender full of coal and appeared to in good shape and recently fired and maybe waiting for a back up assignment that would probably never happen.
