Claggetville Mile Post 256 siding 600 feet, in employee timetable it is listed Nov. 1917 not listed April 1925 as a side track,of Sherman Township built and gave to the Ann Arbor Railroad a spur which came within a mile of the village of Sherman to the west. A hamlet resulted; which sometimes called West Sherman, sometimes Claggetville, after Mr. Claggett, in
Claggetville, Wexford County; in 1897, the people whose interests the spur was built, he having built a large sawmill here, most its workers living in Sherman. [from Michigan Place Names]
