The 1881 map shows the depot further south than I did, and shows the water tower on the same side of the track as the depot, north of the depot. I have seen a photo at CMU's Clarke Historical Library, in the Charles Conn collection, that shows the depot on the same (west) side of the tracks as the hotel and the water tower is in the background (south) on the east side of the tracks. Perhaps the water tower was moved to serve both the GR&I and M&NE. I'm sure GR&I profited from that. Another possibility is that there were two water tanks
