I have no clue what the branch would have been going to. This land is currently the UofM Edwin S. George Reserve, which is an area known for it's biological studies (found the oldest known example of a Blanding's Turtle recently).
Does anyone know the history of this spur off the Jackson Branch? Edwin S. George was a furrier when he came to the Detroit area, but later became involved in the automobile industry.
The only thing I can think of is that Edwin S. George, as part of his automobile industry business would have needed lumber and this line would have been a logging line. I have never heard, nor seen anything to indicate there was ever a logging line near Pinckney though.
