Here's a crisp photo my dad took as the October 1958 fantrip to Grand Haven ended with Mikado 3754 poised to highball east for Durand and Detroit from the Plainfield Ave. GTW station. Notice the elevated switch tower on the right. I'd forgotten how much detail there was in that little yard then, including the ancient, sooty looking 2 stall engine house and tower on the river side of Plainfield (behind the Choo Choo Grill). Bitter sweet end to GTW steam on the west end of the Detroit Div. Great fan trip as scheduled steam would stop hauling freight and passengers through GR bet. Durand and Muskegon soon afterward.
