John, the two photos that you posted today, in my opinion, are of the ferry "Algomah", which by the time era of your other photos it was operating to Mackinac Island. It is a different boat than the one that was in yesterday's photo with the "Chief". The boat in today's photo has an all black stack, enclosed bow, and a set of stairs on the bow leading up to the front of the pilot house area. If you google Steamer Algomah there are several views showing these characteristics. I believe the Algomah ran until about 1933. (There also was an earlier Algomah, and a subsequent Algomah II.). The State ferries had silver stacks with a black upper band, so that is a different boat in yesterday's photo. I've got to do some more research to try and figure out which of three possible State ferries that is.
