The wreck involved a southbound double headed passenger train that just had left the depot and the LS&MS train was a local of a switcher sandwiched between four cars. The LS&MS train had run a stop indication. The towerman was E.F. Bowling (seen in picture). Those familiar with Kalamazoo area history will note the date—a much larger event occurred on the CK&S this day.
A side note about the postcard—the card is an amateur style card and as identified by the note in the upper corner this photographer produced at least three postcards in 1909 all of Kalamazoo area wrecks.
