In 1970 it was just a rather small typical NYC wood shanty. There was a facing point bolt lock protected crossover to go from the wb main into the Big Yard which tracks 1 to 10 in the Jackson Yard were called. The head man would line the switches and the flagman would close them up and wait in the shanty for a ride to the west end. I was told at that time there used to be a switch tender stationed there. The yard lede crossing the Air Line was at the WEST end of the yard and the yardmaster controled a simple one arm signal granting movement on either the Air Line or yard lede.
