I guess this is mostly a question for GAP, as he was the one talking about it a while ago, but please anyone else with any knowledge of the SOO LINE in Sault Ste. Marie please offer up what you know.
GAP, a while back you commented about remembering seeing insulated boxcars off beer, and also lumber being unloaded by the old depot.
Do you happen to remember or have any photos of the area? Or remember what type or what railroad the beer cars were and from? How about the type and railroad for the lumber cars?
If i remember right there was also a spur that came off the main near the International bridge, that ran on the south side of the St. Marys River channel through town. I think it came out the the main part of the St. Marys River near the corner of Ord St. and E Portage Ave.
Is there anything you can tell me about that line? When it was pulled up? What customers, ect.?
Thanks to all that can give any info, and here is another little jewel from the collection.
