The nb ruling grade on the north end of the GR&I is from Cadillac North Yard mp 334 to mp 339 and ranges from a low of .09 to a high of 1.8% for the half mile south of mp 339. The nb side of this hill is 1.19% from Manton mp 344 to mp 339. The ruling grade sb is Elmira Hill from Boyne Falls mp 410 to mp 401 and is a steady 1.41%. On the middle end the climb from 3 miles north of East Paris mp 298 to the top of the hill at mp 300.3 is 1.14% and .85% down the other side through Reed City to mp 303. On the south end there is also a short 1.0% nb climb from mp 199.3 to mp 200.6 three miles south of Martin with a pair of 3 degree curves in it to make things interesting.
The sb grade out of Traverse City is 1.2% from mp 13.5 to Summit at mp 8.0.
The MC Detroit River Tunnel is 2.0% wb and 1.4% eb while the St Clair Tunnel is 2.0% on both sides. Both are rather short grades though.
The big sag east of Lake Odessa has got to be rather steep also but is a momention grade.
