"Doktor No, I have a book on the Ghost Towns of Michigan's Lower Peninsula. It has a bit of info on Borland, and does go into talking about a man named Chief Elkhorn. Apparently he owned a General Store there, and according to legend, lived to be 100 years old.
I was just out there last weekend, and took that photo that aghudley posted. I was short on time so, I never walked down the old grade to where the siding at Borland began. I'm sure that if you followed the siding (Provided the grade still exists) we could find out if it did run to these foundations. Those ruins are all located on private land, and the photo above was taken in nearly full zoom.
If you want to see it, I'd suggest getting out there before things start turning green. I was there last year, in the middle of summer, and never even spotted the old tower. "
