The lumber company was the Peacock Lumber Co. on the south side of the Black River Canal just of Holland Ave. That fire was deemed to be mysterious in nature,. although most in town believed there was no mystery at all. I knew the Peacock family and did business with them ong ago. I also new Bob Corbin quite well and his building now houses a sporting goods outlet. His lumber sheds were built on the same angle as the grade which ran next to it. Apparently, when he first built his business there, the RR row was still not settled (as far as who would get it after abandonment), thus the reason for building his sheds opn a skew.
