I recently bought via eBay a Boyne City, Gaylord & Alpena Railroad Company voucher dated 8/11/09. It enabled The Fuel Economy Company of Detroit to collect payment of $131.10 ($3,402.86 in current dollars) using the voucher as a Demand Draft, the equivalent of a check today, when properly signed by both the BCG&A auditor Mr. J. M. Tompkins and general manager W. H. White. The White family owned the sawmill in Boyne City and the railroad. Internally, the cost was to be debited to the account M.W. & S. #16, which suggests to me a locomotive.
Does anyone on this board know what product the Fuel Economy Co. offered and/or was MW&S #16 a locomotive? I checked the Internet and drew blanks.
