Over a month ago I replied to a post about MCRR area photos and mentioned the name of Lee Dodd who held quite a collection of photos from Niles. Since I am from Niles I sent a note to the museum in town about Mr. Dodd, and I finally got a response below, which may be of general interest here on the board.
Scott,
The railroad is an important part of Niles’ history and has lots of fans. I don’t believe Mr. Dodd is still living, but the museum has a railroad exhibit, including information on the classification yards / terminal. Pictures, of course, are a part of the exhibit.
We have a book in our gift shop that is all about the railroad in Niles /SW Michigan. It was written by William Taylor and includes many pictures. You may want to purchase it, if you don’t already have it. The price is $30.00 plus $5.00 shipping.
I hope you can visit the museum in the near future. That’s the best way to see everything.
