SD40's made an occasional appearance on the Grand Rapids Sub too. I personally seen them switching the co-op in Fowler on time 
. That's correct, the eastbound manifest stopped in Fowler, made a run around move because they had a facing switch, and parked some covered hoppers into the Fowler Co-op spur using SD40's, and I got to watch it

Now, I'm sure that SD40's were not the norm as was the manifest doing local work. But I was very fortunate enough to witness it, when I was around 12 years old, late one night
