A while ago I purchased a Epson Perfection 3170 Photo scanner. It has templets for slides, film stips, photos. I have scanned 1000s of photos, negatives, books and slides (4 at a time) with out any problems. I do not know if it is still available, but it's the best I've found for under $100. No damage to slides noticed, but if you're worried, a slide-only scanner is advisable Maddog
