"Authorities are determining whether the student will be charged..."

WHAT? Someone breaks into your home, tries to steal your belongings, tries to attack you and you defend yourself, and YOU may face charges?

That's screwed up. No wonder crime is so rampant. People risk jail for the crime of defending themselves and their property. Do like they do in China: execute the criminals. There's no place in society for them.
