So gang, what is everyone's feelings on this new era of American politics? I didn't vote for Obama, but I am hopeful that he will be able to get us back on the right track.
I am a little wary though, because some of Obama's ideals are a little too socialist-leaning, a little to Roosevelt-ish (Franklin, not Theodore) for my liking. Before he's even taken office, we're swinging leftward with the nationalization of certain big businesses. Some economists are proposing sweeping changes to retirement plans, saying that the volatility in the market means government needs to do more to "protect" people's savings (to which I say BS! Not the govt's job to secure my financial future). I'm also concerned that he will not do anything regarding our illegal immigration problem, which should not be ignored just because we're having big economic troubles right now.
Anyhoo, at any rate, good luck Mr. President. You're going to need it.
