Another colleague was let go today (Deb, yes, THAT one). Now there is just Theresa and me as the "biology group." There's supposed to be another layoff coming soon where the company workforce is going to be slashed in half or so. It really is like the Titanic.
Fortunately, Theresa's and my jobs are supposedly secured by funding at the very least through '09, with possible follow-on funding after that. That assumes the company is even still in existence by then.
And more bad news regarding unemployment on CNN. A lone bright spot: The Fed is moving to lower interest rates on mortgages by about 1% in the hope of kick-starting the housing industry.
2008 has been a lousy year. President-elect Obama is going to have his work cut out for him.
