There are alot of posters that I respect so I hope no one takes this personally. I'm not going to name names because I'll forget some people without a doubt.
I've addressed the need for balance amongst Packer fans. I think it's equally ridiculous to piss on Favre's legacy with GB as it is to hate some kind of irrational hatred for TT and MM because you're in love with the last administration and don't want to admit you might have been wrong about ole Ted.
Someone help me out...Why did Ted do so wrong? He didn't want Favre back? That was so wrong? He didn't trade Favre to the Vikings like he originally wanted? Why should he have done that? I've heard how "evil" and yes..I read the word "evil" to describe Ted Thompson and I've seen nothing but speculative evidence suggesting "why" he's so evil. "Evidence" that would last about 10 mins in a court of law before it was laughed out of the courthouse.
On the other hand why would Favre be so innocent in the events that took place in 2008? I hear that we should ignore what he's done in his personal life mainly because it's not for us to judge. Ok, that's fine if you're not a moralist I can respect your beliefs, but does it not give some indication that maybe he isn't so professional in his business life as well? Maybe his irresponsibility carries over to how he conducts himself in business? Is that at all possible? If anyone has hard evidence and proof that TT is this "evil" figure then please bring it forward because I would really like to know...I say that sincerely because if TT is this evil person then I sure as hell don't want to support him.
Some go as far as to diminish what TT and MM have done in order to somehow justify Sherman. I will not argue that Sherman didn't have success because he did. He had alot of regular season success. However, he had 6 years and the team was regressing. He hadn't made much headway in the playoffs. Now we have a GM that has more than put his stamp on this team...this IS his team. Sherman left us Jenkins, Wells, and Barnett from his aquisitions. Jenkins is an excellent player for the 3-4 scheme. Wells is a smart player and a good pass blocker, but not the best in the run game. I'd argue he needs to be replaced. Barnett has been a solid LBer for years for GB, but TT's 6th round draft pick may be proving him expandable in the offseason. Not exactly a "core" of talent left behind. All but 6 players on this team are TT's and this team is currently in the SB. How is anyone going to seriously argue that TT hasn't done a good job? Oh, I know...you're going to say how "evil" he is and that's why you can't root for him.
Then you have MM. Hasn't quite had the success in the regular season that Sherman had to date. However, MM has led the Packers to one of the best regular season records in the league over the last 5 years. I believe we are tied for third. That and MM has undoubtedly found more postseason success than Sherman. This all while he had to replace a legend at the most important position on the football field. Ill be honest MM drives me NUTS sometimes, but he has forgotten more about football than I know which is why he's coaching in the SuperBowl and I'm going to be a paralegal and then eventually an attorney. If he wants my legal advice in the future then he'll care what my opinion is...(that being said Sherman has also forgotten more about football than I know) and this isn't meant to bash Sherman. I believe in moving on, I just don't like seeing some diminish what TT and MM have accomplished in order to protect Sherman's legacy. If his legacy is strong enough then he doen't need that help.
That being said I can't stand the Favre bashers, either. I can respect a person's opinion, but good lord to diminish what he did for 16 years in GB? Lest we forget that as much as we love how Rodgers is playing, Favre played as good if not better than Rodgers for most of his career. He was a HOF QB for GB and a major part in putting GB back on the map after 25 years of obscurity. He MADE ME a Packer fan because of his play. Just like the play of Starr and others made some of you Packer fans when you were younger. I don't approve of his personal life at all and wouldn't blame Deana for divorcing him and his kids disowning him. I don't believe he's always acted professionally. He has personal faults that's for sure (and like I said for the TT haters..if you have hard evidence about TT then please let me see it because there is plenty of hard evidence about Favre). That being said he was a helluva QB for a long time for GB and that can't be forgotten. THough I find it ironic that a person can't root for TT if they think he is "evil" no matter how well he does and yet get angry when people "piss on favres legacy" because of how he's acted as a person. Both have done amazing things for this organization (Favre moreso to this point because he was here a lot longer).
