The advantage for the Packers is found in having a week to prepare for Michael Vick. Would I say he caught them off guard in the season opener? perhaps, The truth is he has always given the Packers fits.
The way I see this game is this. The Packers need to use Charles Woodson the same way that the Vikes used Winfield off of the corner. There is no Jared Allen coming off of the corner, but there are two good fast OLBers that can be used in the same ways to create holes. T Williams can lock up Desean Jackson all day long. The issue will be Macklin. That is a assignment for Sam Shields. The other issue is the TE.
Interestingly, despite being poor in coverage, Brandon Chillers is always acclaimed by coaches and yet now the coverage on the TE's is better than it ever was under him now that he is out. But this will be a spot of concern in this game on third down.
I see this as a close game. The one thing hurting GB on offense is the center-LG combo on the offensive line. Run blocking is the issue. They just do not get it done. Wells has been in need of replacing since day one that he has been a starter. College has never quite cut the mustard and is very inconsistent. I also believe in order to win in winter conditions that GB will have to get close to 100 yards from their running back combo. It is a late game and so it will be colder. I hate the late games.
The Packer WR's will have to stop dropping and fumbling the ball. There is no margin of error in order to win a road playoff game.
Mike McCarthy is an upgrade over the last coach. But sometimes he gets too cute in his play calling, while at others he just gets too predictable. I do not think a head coach should be a play caller. I think that should be a combo of the QB on the field and the OC. One has the feel for the play on the field and the other one game planned the plays for the defense they face. It only makes sense to me. The coach has too many other responsibilities.
I look for James Jones to have a nice role in the game. Brandon Jackson needs 20 touches. Aaron Rodgers needs to be accurate and decisive. No long developing plays against the aggressive eagles defense.
a score.....hmmn I think if GB plays its best it wins. 27-21 GB
