This is the difference. Look at the injury report going in. Percy Harvin and BErnard BErrian were boht out before Sunday. But because they knew how big this game was, and because the bye was next week, they showed up and contributed.
Then look at the Packer injury roster on how no one showed up. This was always the difference with Brett's team. On Brett's team, (especially this year), you always have a chance to win any game, and when things are rolling with Brett Favre you believe you win it all, so you give that extra push, you throw that extra block, you fight for that extra yard, because there's a payoff in the end. And that payoff is a Super Bowl.
With the current Packers and other mid-level teams, you say to yourself, what payoff is there for me to play hurt, or risk injury by pushing my body to 110%? And the answer is nothing. The only person on that team who's job is secure long term is Aaron Rodgers. And not because of ability, but because of the situation has married Rodgers, Thompson, and McCarthy together forever.
Tauscher found out, Favre found out, and Driver will find out how secure his job is an "old" Packer. With the defensive changes, how secure is Barnett, Kampman, and AJ Hawk? It seems like its a year to year thing with Ted, and no one is safe, so the only incentive to perform is to be valuable to another team. Plus it is clear that a team that can only beat teams with losing records, that the playoffs are out of the picture.
The division is gone, and they are competing with the Giants, Eagles, Falcons, Cowboys, Bears, and more for 2 wild card spots. TWO!!!
As per usual with a Ted Thompson team, they are already planning "for the long term future". Good luck Packers, hahahahaha!
