Kurt warner was very old when the giants cut him loose a few years back.
Kurt warner was not old at all last year.
Brett favre was not old in 2007. but in the championship game in jan of 2008. BF became old.
however, brett favre was not old as the jets reeled of a bunch of wins, and sat alone in 1st place after beating the patriots in novemeber of 2008. However, in losing to seattle in the final week of the 2008 season. Brett favre again became old.
This coming sunday, In cleveland, I think it is safe to say that once again. Brett favre will not be old. Not vs a brownie defense lead by.... ummmm, can someone even name a member of the browns defense without looking it up?
Yes anyway. Rich gannon looked very young on his way to passing for 5000+ yds and a trip to the superbowl. However, that february next vs the tampa defense on the superbowl stage. Rich Gannon aged 30 years overnight.
So you ask, at what age does a qb become old? Lookiing at kerry collins, kurt warner, Daunte culpepper, jeff george, brad Johnson etc. I don't think there is a magic number you can point to and draw a line that seperates useful from antique. I think when it happens, it happens quick. I also believe that number is different for everyone. George Blanda, jim plunkett, joe namath. All became over the hill at a different time from say Sonny Jurgenson or Matt Hasselback. (doesn't matt all of a sudden look very old?)
LOL. I assume the question is based in some way on the desire to understand wgere #4's chronological age fits into this equation. The3 answer is who knows! Stay tuned. sometime in the not too distant future. BF will define that number for himself. It might be 39? 40? 41? Maybe even 42. Yup. that answer for favre will come in somewhere in between Brad Johnson and rip van winkle. where exactly he middles those 2 is anyones guess. heck for favre it might be 58.
