In your post you mention the annual grant was acknowledged and budgeted. Does this mean that you had received a letter from the executive director of the foundation that the money was promised? Or just that you were anticipating one due to an on-going, multi-year grant commitment?
I have never been in the position of something not coming through after firmly promised in writing. I have been told by the executive director of a family foundation that if we had money promised (in writing) that was a very binding agreement on the part of that foundation.
Maybe someone wants to brief me on how foundations back away from firmly promised money without recourse...so I can be prepared in future!
