SJ, start culling through notices of grants available (here, grants.gov, etc.) and forwarding the best matches to the nonprofits you think may be interested. Of course, it will be their decision whether to go forward and whether to hire a grantwriter, but they'll be grateful that you thought of them. Alternately, select a favorite charity and offer to research grant opportunities for one of its programs. Clarify that the search may be free (if it is) but you plan to provide an estimate before you write a proposal.
