Your campaign needs legal advice. I'd contact my state association of nonprofit organizations and have them consult with their legal team. It sounds like your donors have an actionable case against you for the return of their gifts, but I'm not an attorney. They'd need to make a case for willful negligence on the part of your Board's oversight. Hopefully you're insured. Like I said, I'm not an attorney.
