We had a scare this year, and may still have a problem, but we have the option to fund our programs with other funding, as we are not funded by a single entity.
A new board, new resolutions about fund raising, and we have a lot of work to do! I would suggest you get busy, first wiht a local newspaper, then with local organizations that might buy into your purpose and see whazt you can do to re-start the group. I don't know whether you are a government agency or what, but you could even start a new non-profit. Of course, if you need salary in the meantime, it could be hairy.
Good Luck. Feel free to email me if you have any questions. We are a small provate non-profit who have suffered a cut in United Way funding, and who are looking at being "managed" by the United Way if we accept their conditions. We have been around since 1979, and our problem was a bad board for the past two years. We have a lot of work to do to ovecome the mess they created or let happen, but we are going to make it!!
