Thanks for your great response. I have been writing for over 25 years and recently (2 years ago) started writing grants for a couple of non-profits. I too was challenged with what to charge, but spoke with an independent paralegal in Los angeles who straightened me out about charging for my services. You are right, it's hard work, often too close to the deadline, and takes lots of time to not be paid! I chart my hours, and calculate my expenses and submit a bil. Fortunately, I have a 92% success rate, but I've realized I can't write for every cause and can't take on every client. That's called wisdom. This is my first time on this site and I appreciate knowing there's other grantwriters- just doing their thing.
