| Re: Grant Writer Fees

You'll need to get yourself registered with the PA Bureau of Charitable Organizations before a Pennsylvania NPO can sign any contract with you, or both you & the client could be subject to fines. You'll also want to be in communication with the Bureau so that your contract includes all of their required language. All of your contracts must be approved by the state bureau before the work begins, so it is much simpler to ask them what they want to see in the contract first. PANO (PA Assoc. of Nonprofit Organizations) can help you with all this if you happen to be a member, and will probably help you even if you are not. Joining PANO is much cheaper than hiring an attorney. The registration process sounds more intimidating than it is, but it's a must-do for you in this business in this state. Welcome to the field! Pennsylvania is underserved with grantwriters and we always have room for another good one.
