Our argument is that this is about EDUCATION. I get emails every day from students who have their financial aide yanked if they want to go overseas yet every college (and high school in theory) in America is requiring language proficiency. Others are studying development, economics, history, heck AIDS but can't get to the places they need to study them. I know it seems a hard sell but it's something that we're passionate about. (I don't even have health care!) To boot, look at our foreign policy today. Sept 11th didn't happen out of the blue yet a lot were suprised by it. We need to educate our students about the bigger picture. That's the bottom line. The beauty of this project is that the budget is flexible. The more money garnered, the more given out for Fellowships.
