needs to have all the official info: amount, date, tax-deductibility (goods and services received, etc.)
The letter from the board member might be even more personal, and doesn't necessarily need to include all those details. What will their gift do for your organization? What does this mean to the board member personally? Have them speak from the heart.
And a phone call to thank them wouldn't be a bad idea, either. $1000 is a great gift!
