I worked for this organization for many years, writing grants, bookkeeping, office work, etc. I stopped working with them for several reason the most important being that the president was changing the grants I was writing completely. Basically my writing ended up not looking like my writing at all.
I signed a contract with the organization stating that all my work was to be done as an independent contractor. However, after recently moving I can't locate my copy of the contract and I can't remember if it says I was to be paid on a commission basis or if it mentioned payment at all.
There is a long backstory behind my involvement with this organization, which is too lengthy to get into. It wasn't until I left did I realize I was being used.
At any rate, now that I am in the same line of work, I want to use the grants already written. I know that we will be submitting to the same foundations and I don't want it appearing as if I am not the author. I know they are very sneaky and at times have done a cut/paste of a signature.
