Hi Sara-- Just a little background for you. All United Ways (some 1200 in the US alone) are independent nonprofit corporations, so they will all have different ways of handling requests. Not hugely different, but different. They have local territories that they fund in, and raise funds in. If your organization serves clients across a broad area, you may be able to request funds from multiple UWs. You can get info on which United Ways work in your area by going to the website listed below. United Way focus is on being local funders for local human needs. Some UWs require that you become a "member agency" and some do not--as time goes on, more are moving to "open funding" instead of funding a select group of agencies. All are increasingly requiring more reporting and accountability than they have in the past. Good luck! Andrea
