FYI, found a resource to answer the question that I had posed RE: accepting % of grant fund as payment for grantwriting services. Refer to the link to the national Association for Grant Professionals, which is: http://grantprofessionals.org Go to the end of the page and click on ETHICS. “Members shall not accept or pay a finder’s fee, commission, or percentage of compensation based on grants and shall take care to discourage their organizations from making such payments.” The funder is awarding dollars based on several variables, including the community need, the efficacy of the project, and the organization’s capacity to implement, deliver, monitor, and sustain the project. The funder is not awarding funds based entirely on the expertise of the grant writer. The example of a CPA who would base her fee on what the client will receive as a tax refund helps to drive the point home, right?
