Does Chicago have a non-profit association? How about checking with the local chapter of the AFP?
Not sure if any of those would list-share.
Sorry your secretary of state office did not make this available for you. The other check is with Charity Navigator. Every organization that files a form 990 will be listed (the IRS website might be a place to search also).
Here's hoping you get better results...
