| Gift Acceptance Policy - including a time retriction to a gift

In a gift acceptance policy, can you indicate that gifts received can be time sensitive. ie- The purpose in which the gift was originally given, can not be fulfilled by the organization, because research is no longer applicable. Can you make your gift acceptance policy reflect that language. Or does any organization have a similar problem with this?
